Mark Webber believes that Max Verstappen could win the 2022 World Championship with as many as three races to spare.
Verstappen has won six of the nine Grands Prix contested so far this season and is already in a very dominant position. His closest rival is his own teammate, Sergio Perez, who currently trails him by 46 points, with the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc three points further away.
According to Webber, who left Red Bull at the end of 2013, his former team have delivered a contender that is good no matter what the conditions, and Verstappen is making the most out of it.
“Red Bull will continue to dominate this championship,” Webber said in The Guardian during the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
“They have a car that is very good on downforce levels, on all compounds of tyre.”
