The dramatic duel between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton during last season was one of sporting legend.
In a recent interview with World Touring Car driver and ViaPlay F1 pundit Tom Coronel, the veteran racer revealed to the Express that he received a WhatsApp message from Verstappen just over an hour after their crash at Silverstone while the Red Bull driver was on his way to the hospital following the 180mph collision.
The crash was subject to much debate over whose fault it was, with Hamilton’s Mercedes making contact with the rear right tyre of the Red Bull on Copse Corner, ripping it off and ending the Dutchman’s race as his car flew into the barriers.
Verstappen was sent to hospital for precautionary checks following the 51G collision as Hamilton drove on and won his record eighth British Grand Prix.
